ARTICLE 101: REQUIREMENTS FOR THE IMPORT OF HOUSEHOLD GOODS

     

    The importation of household goods is authorized (RGCE 2022: Regla 3.3.3) referred to in article 61, section VII of the Law (LA: Art. 61), provided that the corresponding customs declaration (pedimento) is accompanied by a declaration certified by the Mexican consulate (RGCE 2022: Regla 3.3.4) of the place where the person who intends to import the household goods resides and that contains:

  • The name of the importer;
  •  

  • The address (RGCE 2022: Regla 1.1.3) where it established their residence abroad;
  •  

  • The residence time abroad, which may not be less than six months;
  •  

  • The place where it will establish their residence in national territory;
  •  

  • The description and quantity of goods that make up the household goods, and
  •  

  • Demonstrate under protest of telling the truth the data of the customs declaration (pedimento) of importation of the previous household goods.
  •  

    In the case of the second or subsequent household goods that permanent residents want to import under article 61, section VII of the Law (LA: Art. 61), they must request the corresponding authorization before the Customs Authority, within the following year in which they have made the first import of household goods.

    When more than one year has elapsed since the importation of the first household goods, the importation of the following household goods will be authorized in terms of the first paragraph of this article, and the provisions of the second paragraph must be observed in the case of subsequent imports of household goods that want to carry out within the year following that the said importation has been made.

    National students and researchers returning to the country after residing abroad for at least one year, may request authorization (RGCE 2022: Regla 3.3.4) to import their household goods before the Customs Authority, provided they meet the requirements established in sections I, II and V of this article, and verify that the reason for their residence abroad was for the realization of said purposes in academic institutions. Those interested must prove that the aforementioned household goods were acquired six months before they intend to be imported.

    For the purposes of the provisions of the preceding paragraph, national students and researchers may verify their studies (RGCE 2022: Regla 3.3.4) or research abroad with one or more certificates issued by the academic institutions in which they have carried out the same , provided that the sum of the terms is at least one year.
